PM: Ukraine must cease using Russian gas
KIEV, Feb 16 (PRIME) -- Ukraine must try to stop using Russian gas, Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk said in a statement on Monday.
“We have proved that we can get rid of the Russian gas dependency… I want to drive it to zero,” Yatsenyuk said.
Ukraine imported only 33% of gas directly from Russia last year instead of nearly 100% before, while imports from Europe, including reverse supplies of Russian gas from Slovakia, Hungary and Poland, rose by 59%.
